Beautiful retreat in the Mazama countryside

By 1 Kind Design  //  Architecture  //  1 Comment

This 1,000 square-foot weekend cabin, is located in the beautiful countryside around Mazama, Washington. The Delta Shelter is basically a steel box on stilts, which can be completely shuttered when the owner is away. Situated near a river in a floodplain, the 20 x 20 square footprint rises three stories and is topped by the living room/kitchen. Large, 10 x 18 steel shutters can be closed simultaneously using a hand crank. This incredible structure was constructed by Seattle based architecture firm Olson Kundig Architects.

  • Wow! Incredible home, love the natural beauty and the roll up door is really cool. Location is spectacular, wish this was my vacay house.
